**Hexagram 12: Pi · Standstill**
Upper trigram: Qian · Lower trigram: Kun · Hexagram 12
**Judgment**
Standstill is not favorable for the steadfastness of the superior person. The great departs, the small arrives.
**Line Statements**
First line: When pulling up the grass, the clumps come along with it. Perseverance brings good fortune and success.
Second line: Embracing and supporting. The small person is fortunate; the great person is obstructed. Success.
Third line: Embracing shame.
Fourth line: There is a mandate, no blame. Those who share in the blessings will receive happiness.
Fifth line: Bringing the standstill to an end. The great person is fortunate. "It will perish, it will perish!" — yet it is tied to a cluster of mulberry trees.
Top line: Overturning the standstill. At first there is standstill, then afterward there is joy.
