Qian 100: Emperor Tang Minghuang Visits the Moon Palace

Story
Emperor Tang Minghuang dreamed of visiting the Moon Palace, where he saw fairy maidens dancing the "Rainbow and Feather Robe Dance." After waking, he composed the music for posterity. Later came the An Lushan Rebellion, and he was forced to execute his beloved Yang Guifei at Mawei Slope. Prosperity turned to decline. This sign signifies that splendor is but a dream; when at the peak, decline follows.
Oracle Poem
Moon palace's fairy music heard in a dream, / The Rainbow and Feather Robe made the land a theme. / Who would have thought at Mawei a mutiny arose, / Scent faded, jade perished, deep regret snows.
Interpretation
Career: At the peak of success, guard against decline from prosperity; it's wise to retire in time. Relationships: Overly romantic easily separates from reality; keep your feet on the ground. Wealth: Huge profits will be followed by a plunge; take gains and stop.
