Sign 74: The Friendship of Guan and Bao
Supreme Fortune
Story
Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya were partners in business. Guan took more profit, but Bao did not consider him greedy, knowing his family was poor. Later, each served different lords. Bao recommended Guan to Duke Huan of Qi and willingly served under him. Guan sighed, "My parents gave me life, but Bao knows my heart." This sign signifies the rarity of a true confidant.
Oracle Poem
Sharing gold without resentment showed true heart, recommending a minister, willing to play a subordinate part. The friendship of Guan and Bao is praised through ages, a bosom friend is rare among human sages.
Interpretation
This sign is very auspicious, indicating the help of a close friend. In career, cooperation goes smoothly, meeting a supportive mentor; in love, couples or partners understand each other's hearts; in wealth, partnership brings great fortune. The poem's "bosom friend" emphasizes the value of trust.
