签70:朱买臣休妻
Inferior Fortune
Story
In the Han dynasty, Zhu Maichen was poor and made a living by cutting firewood. His wife Cui Shi despised his poverty and remarried. Later, Zhu Maichen gained the favor of Emperor Wu of Han and was appointed Prefect of Kuaiji. Cui Shi wanted to remarry him, but Zhu Maichen poured water on the ground, saying "Split water cannot be gathered up." This fortune signifies that one's resolve in poverty cannot be changed.
Oracle Poem
Interpretation
This fortune is inauspicious, indicating that relationships are prone to change. In career, if belittled, one should strive hard; in relationships, despising poverty and loving wealth will lead to separation; in finances, first poor then rich, but patience is needed. The phrase "split water cannot be gathered" warns that fate should not be forced.
