签66:霸王别姬

Lowest Fortune

Story

Xiang Yu was besieged by Liu Bang at Gaixia, surrounded by Chu songs on all sides. To avoid burdening the Overlord, Lady Yu drew her sword and killed herself. Xiang Yu broke through the encirclement to the Wu River but felt he had no face to see the elders east of the river, so he also killed himself. This fortune signifies the end of a hero, a tragic conclusion.

Oracle Poem

At Gaixia, the mournful song lingered through the endless night; Yu Ji's blood stained the Chu palace robes. A single sword at the Wu River, a thousand autumns of regret; Only the memory of the Overlord remains east of the river.

Interpretation

This fortune is extremely inauspicious, indicating that nothing will be accomplished. In career, it is close to failure; one should cut losses and retreat; in relationships, there is an omen of separation by death; cherish the present; in finances, all capital may be lost, do not struggle. The phrase "regret remains" warns that one must decide when to quit.
