签64:马援征蛮

Average Fortune

Story

Ma Yuan, the General Who Pacifies the Waves of the Eastern Han, volunteered to lead a southern campaign against the Jiaozhi barbarians at age sixty. He led his army to defeat the barbarians, erected a bronze pillar to mark the Han border, and died in the army, fulfilling his ambition of "dying wrapped in horsehide." This fortune signifies that old age can still be vigorous, with aspirations reaching a thousand miles.

Oracle Poem

An old general still can mount the war saddle; In the southern campaign, a bronze pillar stands against the clouds. Dying wrapped in horsehide is his lifelong wish; Do not laugh at white hair that cannot be taken off the saddle.

Interpretation

This fortune primarily indicates good fortune in middle and later years. In career, seniors are valued, while young people need patience; in relationships, old couples are more harmonious; in finances, stability is advisable, with abundance in old age. The phrase "dying wrapped in horsehide" in the poem embodies a fighting spirit.
