签58:苏武牧羊

Average Fortune

Story

Emperor Wu of Han sent Su Wu as an envoy to the Xiongnu, where he was detained for nineteen years. The Chanyu repeatedly tried to bribe him to surrender, but Su Wu, holding his Han envoy's staff, tended sheep at Lake Baikal, enduring hardships without dishonoring his mission. Later, when peace was made between Han and Xiongnu, he returned to Chang'an with white hair. This sign foretells that holding faith will eventually see the dawn.

Oracle Poem

Nineteen years of frost on the northern sea, Lone loyalty with sheepskin cloak, faithful to be. Though the Han envoy's staff is worn away, A red heart shines on all nine lands, always.

Interpretation

This sign favors maintaining the status quo; stillness is better than action. In career, one must endure and lie low, not rush. In love, those separated or in long-distance relationships should keep their promises. Finances are average; it's good to save. The poem's "red heart shines" foretells that persistence will earn recognition.
