Sign 49: Qu Yuan Threw Himself into the River

Lowest Fortune

Story

Qu Yuan served as Left Minister to King Huai of Chu. Slandered by Jin Shang and others, he was exiled to the south of the Yangtze. Wandering by the marsh, he composed "Li Sao" and "Nine Songs." After Qin captured Yingdu, he clasped a stone and drowned himself in the Miluo River. The people of Chu mourned him, throwing bamboo tubes of rice into the river as offerings, which later evolved into zongzi for the Dragon Boat Festival.

Oracle Poem

The waters of the Miluo River spread vast and dim; Through the ages, the loyal soul's regret never ends. Fragrant grass and beauties shed tears in vain; Dragon boats race, mourning beneath the setting sun.

Interpretation

This lower-lower sign indicates loyalty leads to rejection. In career, you may be slandered; it is wise to retreat. In love, infatuation is misplaced, bringing only sorrow. Financially, ruin. Qu Yuan's death, though intense, is not the act of a wise man. Advise you to assess the situation and not imitate his suicide.
