Sign 48: Xue Rengui Conquered the East

Superior Fortune

Story

Tang general Xue Rengui, in white robe and silver halberd, stabilized the Tian Mountains with three arrows. When attacking Goguryeo, he charged enemy lines alone, routing all foes. The enemy fled at the sight of his white robe. Folk legend says: "The general with three arrows stabilized the Tian Mountains; the strong warrior sang as he entered the Han Pass." Later he was enfeoffed as Duke of Pingyang, but was demoted in his later years and died on the road.

Oracle Poem

White robe and silver halberd shook Liaodong; Three arrows at Tian Mountain, meritorious service for sweat and horses. Since ancient times, heroes often meet setbacks; Setting sun and withered grass weep for his lonely loyalty.

Interpretation

This upper sign indicates glorious achievements but misfortune in later years. In career, you may accomplish great feats but guard against villains. In love, it may be spectacular but hard to end well. Financially, prosperity first then decline. Xue Rengui's bravery is admirable; advise you to be prepared for danger in times of peace.
