Sign 41: Dong Yong Sold Himself to Bury His Father

Average Fortune

Story

In the Han Dynasty, Dong Yong was poor. When his father died, he had no money for burial, so he sold himself into slavery. His filial piety moved the Heavenly Emperor, who sent the Weaver Girl to become his wife. She wove brocade to pay off his debt. The creditor was astonished by the brocade and allowed Dong Yong to redeem himself. On their way home, the Weaver Girl bid farewell and ascended to heaven, leaving a note: "Between heaven and earth, a future meeting is hard to foresee."

Oracle Poem

Selling his body to bury his father, his filial heart was firm; The Weaver Girl descended to fulfill a past fate. Brocade paid off the debt, parting sorrow remains; Gazing at the Milky Way, tears stream down in vain.

Interpretation

This medium sign indicates that filial piety moves heaven. In career, sincerity can move others and bring support. In love, though a good fate exists, it is hard to last. Financially, debts can be repaid. Dong Yong's filial piety, though aided by immortals, was ultimately an illusion. Advise you to do your best and accept fate.
