Sign 40: Han Xin's Humiliation Between the Legs

Inferior Fortune

Story

When young, Han Xin carried a sword in the market. A butcher's boy insulted him, saying: "Though you are tall and like to wear a sword, you are a coward at heart!" He ordered Han Xin to crawl between his legs. Han Xin looked at him for a long time, then stooped and crawled through. Later, he joined Liu Bang, became Grand General, helped destroy Chu, and was enfeoffed as Marquis of Huaiyin. After his success, he summoned the boy and made him a military officer, saying: "This is a true man."

Oracle Poem

Shame between legs, his ambition never died, / He mounted the altar as general, storms to ride. / A man can endure extraordinary disgrace, / Till final success stands towering and wide.

Interpretation

This lower sign indicates enduring humiliation. In career, you face contempt and must endure before development. In love, take unfairness without fighting for immediate results. Finances lose first then gain. Han Xin's endurance is not cowardice but great wisdom; it advises you to follow his tenacity.
