Sign 36: Fan Li Rows on the Lake
Supreme Fortune
Story
After King Goujian of Yue destroyed Wu, Fan Li retired and rowed on the Five Lakes with Xi Shi. Before leaving, he wrote to Wen Zhong: "When birds are gone, the bow is put away; when rabbits are dead, the hounds are cooked." Later he made three fortunes in trade at Tao, known as Lord Zhu of Tao. Wen Zhong ignored his advice and was forced to commit suicide by Goujian.
