Sign 35: Di Renjie Admonishes Empress Wu Zetian

Superior Fortune

Story

Empress Wu Zetian wanted to appoint Wu Chengsi as crown prince. Di Renjie admonished: "Which is closer, aunt and nephew or mother and son? If Your Majesty appoints your son, you will be worshiped in the imperial temple for eternity. If you appoint your nephew, I have never heard of a nephew setting up a temple for his aunt." The Empress was enlightened and recalled Li Xian, the Prince of Luling. Di Renjie also recommended Zhang Jianzhi and others, ultimately restoring Tang rule.

Oracle Poem

Blunt truths against the ear break through the fog, / One word turns the tide, the state from ruin to thrive. / Unafraid of the dragon's countenance, he dared to log, / His loyal heart shines to guide the living alive.

Interpretation

This upper sign indicates right overcoming evil. In career, you must speak out boldly to turn the situation around. In love, honesty can resolve misunderstandings. Finances face obstacles, but sticking to the right path will lead to smoothness. Di Renjie's remonstrance excelled in wisdom and courage; it advises you not to submit out of fear.
