Qian 20: Jiang Taigong Meets King Wen
Superior Fortune
Story
Jiang Taigong fished by the Wei River. King Wen dreamed that a flying bear entered his tent, and divination said: "You will obtain a worthy minister." He went hunting to the Wei River and found Taigong sitting on a rock fishing. King Wen bowed and asked, and after talking was greatly delighted, saying, "My late father hoped for you for a long time." He took Taigong back and made him his teacher. This qian differs from the eighth—the eighth focuses on Taigong’s patience in fishing, while this one emphasizes King Wen’s sincere respect for talent.
Oracle Poem
Interpretation
This is an upper auspicious qian, like the phoenix crying on Mount Qi. In career, job seekers will meet a leader eager for talent; managers will find a pillar of strength. In love, both parties appreciate and respect each other—an ideal partner relationship. In wealth, cooperation for profit is very auspicious, but both sides must be sincere. This qian suggests: ruler and minister meet, each complementing the other; one true friend in life is enough.
