Sign 10: Lian Po Carries Thorns

Average Fortune

Story

During the Warring States, Lian Po, a general of Zhao, was famous for his bravery. Lin Xiangru, after returning the jade intact to Zhao, was given a position above Lian Po. Lian Po resented this and threatened to humiliate him. Xiangru avoided him for the sake of the state. When Lian Po heard this, he stripped to the waist, carried thorns on his back, and went to Xiangru's gate to apologize. The two became sworn friends who would die for each other. This sign indicates that one who knows his mistakes can correct them, and harmony between general and minister brings prosperity to the state.

Oracle Poem

Bearing thorns, he begged pardon at the gate, / General and minister reconciled—the state flourished. / If selfish thoughts are entirely let go, / Why worry that the world cannot be made great?

Interpretation

This sign is neutral, like ice thawing in spring. In career, if you have conflicts with colleagues, taking the initiative to reconcile can turn swords into plowshares and benefit the overall situation. In love, being the first to apologize after a quarrel is not a loss but may earn respect. Financially, cooperation can bring profit, but you need to yield a share. The core message: take a step back, and the sea of sky opens wide; let go of egotism, and the great Way appears.
